Plastic / Cosmetic Surgeon Dr. James Kurley located in Champaign, IL.
Sclerotherapy (vein treatment) is used to reduce visible veins, usually found on the legs. Dr. Kurley has been performing this procedure in an office setting for over 25 years. He has vast experience with Saline, Sotradecol, and the latest FDA approved solution—Asclera (polidocanol). The solution to be used for your beautiful legs will be chosen at your private consultation with Dr. Kurley.
Using a small, fine gauge needle and magnification, Dr. Kurley injects a sclerosing solution into the veins. The procedure takes less than thirty minutes, has little or no downtime, and very little discomfort. Dr. Kurley will recommend that you wear compression stockings for 3-4 days after treatment. He also advises regular physical activity to give you the best appearing legs.
Since these veins do not generally cause symptoms, this procedure is considered cosmetic and is not covered by most health plans. Dr. Kurley may also use laser vein therapy for small veins that are too small for injection such as those spider veins on the face and nose.
Sclerotherapy can also be used for larger veins that are causing leg fatigue, soreness and swelling. In this instance your health insurance plan may cover treatment. Please contact your carrier for specific information.
