As You Get Older, Your Eyebrows Sag
There are a number of reasons why the region above the eyes, where the eyebrows are, can start to droop or sag with time. These include age, gravity, stress, and much more. Having sagging skin in the brow region can make you look years older than you are and take away from your youthful and alert look.
Also, a sagging brow can leave you with less space for eye makeup and takes the focus away from showing off your eyes – which are a very vital part of your face and contribute greatly to your aesthetic appeal. Anti-aging creams, lotions, serums, medications, etc. can only do so much to help improve and lift a sagging brow but are not effective and permanent fixes.
What you need is a brow lift!
What Is a Brow Lift?
A brow lift is also known as a forehead lift or a forehead rejuvenation and is a type of plastic surgery procedure to help raise the eyebrows. A brow lift can help improve the overall appearance of the forehead, as well as the brow region and the areas around the eyes by removing excess skin and tissue around the area and raising the soft tissue and the skin of the forehead region and brow.
You can get a brow lift done if you have a low, sagging brow or uneven brow asymmetry. A brow lift is a great way to help boost your self-esteem and self-confidence.
A brow lift surgery can be done by itself or in conjunction with other cosmetic facial procedures to enhance your overall facial appearance and make you look more youthful and radiant, such as a facelift or eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), but these are optional.
Why Is a Brow Lift Done?
As you grow older, the natural aging process and the effects of gravity cause the brow line region to droop down. As the skin and the soft tissues lose their elasticity, the space between the eyebrows and eyelashes also decrease in the area.
As the amount of sagging skin intensifies, it can make you look tired, old, angry, or even sad. A brow lift, however, can help raise the eyebrows and the eyebrow region and restore a younger, rejuvenated, refreshed, and overall a more pleasing facial appearance.
You might consider going in for a brow lift surgery if you have a low, drooping, or sagging brow line that’s affecting your overall look.
The Traditional Forehead Lift Technique
First, your surgeon will decide between local anesthesia and intravenous sedation to make you feel relaxed and comfortable during the surgery. In a traditional forehead lift, the surgeon will make coronal incisions first, across the top of your head, and behind the hairline.
These incisions will stretch from one ear to the other ear. Sometimes, the surgeon will make incisions directly in or at the hairline in order to avoid any changes in the height of your hairline.
The forehead skin is then lifted and the excess skin/tissue and fat, if any, are removed. The surgeon will also make adjustments to the underlying muscles of the eyebrow area if required. A thin tube is then used to drain out any excess fluid/blood that accumulates or collects under the skin.
To finish the traditional brow lift surgery, the surgeon will stitch up your incisions using dissolvable or removable sutures. At times, he may use skin adhesives, special clips, or surgical tape to close the incisions.
The results of the traditional forehead lift can be seen almost immediately – a smoother and more youthful-looking forehead and brow region will be clearly evident after the temporary initial post-operative swelling and bruising reduce. The amount of time it takes to heal varies from person to person, but your doctor can provide you with specific instructions to help guide you through the process.
